Good Reads

It's winter, and it's the perfect time to curl up with a good book. I am thrilled because the authors of my two favorite books have just released sequels!
Here are my favorites:
The Liar's Club by Mary Karr and the sequel is Lit: a memoir.

The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls and the sequel is Half Broke Horses: a true life novel.

I'm not sure if the correct terminology is sequel, because Glass Castle was about the authors life, and Half Broke Horses is about the authors grandmothers life.

Mary Karr also has a book that comes before Lit and after Liars Club called Cherry, but I can't remember if I've read it or not.

I just finished reading My Sisters Keeper, which took me longer than most books to finish. Not quite a page turner for me and I hated the ending.

Some other favorites are The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. Oh, and A Million Little Pieces by James Frey- I don't care if it was true or not- still a great book.

Note: all these books are not uplifting stories. For some reason, I am drawn to sad stories. I guess because it helps me realize my life is not all that bad, even on it's worse days.

What are your favorite books?

We have the same taste in books! We should exchange them from time to time!!!! I love all the Jodi Piccoult books.. I have read them all and look forward to her new book in March! I love Anita Shreve too... and I can't resist a Nicholas Sparks romance. :-) My faves are Wally Lamb though... This Much I Know is True is my fave book of all time.
